I've Been Away

I think it's been a week since my last post, a record. I have been having major issues with my camera. An outfit that I like in the mirror will look really off in photos, my face included. My camera's one saving grace is that is takes stunning macro images. 

I celebrated my 20th birthday on the 15th in true young person acting elderly style. We went to the planetarium and spend an hour looking at ducklings, and although the weather was dull I had a lovely time

This is my outfit for my friend's "Retro Record Party" tomorrow where we are all dressing retro and, well, bringing along old records to play in celebration of her record player finally working. I have some fake eyelashes that I will attempt to wear on the night and I'm thinking I'll go a bit more "Twiggy" with my make up but I haven't got much practice so we'll see how I go. The dress is from the clearance store for a usually pricey vintage shop, it was only $20! The shoes are my favourite pair I think, they are the highest things I dare to wear (actually not very high at all but I'm a wuss) BUT they are also incredible comfortable because of the strap and the wedge heel.(They also look much better in real life)

Monday

This dress is actually maternity wear, according to the label that says "Motherhood". I had been looking for a simple dress to sew my collar onto and this one eventually came along and I think it's just perfect. You can sort of see my feather bottle pendant here that I've been wearing religiously over the past few days

Those Damn Flicks

Some webcam photos, just for the hell of it. Oh and look, I finally (sort of) mastered liquid eyeliner! I remember the first time I wore it when I was 12 and I put it all round my eyes so as to make a "statement" because I (thought)I was rebellious and he told me off and said that if I came into his house looking like that, he would think I was a robber and call the police on me.

I got this dress for $8 and didn't need to alter it at all which pretty much makes it my best find ever. The shoes I got from Etsy when I was in Auckland last year because I couldn't find any shoes I wanted there so I looked online and there they were, asking for me to buy them

Periwinkle Blue

I rediscovered this blouse again the other day. I bought it months and months ago but I forget about a lot of my clothes seeing as I have so many. I love this because it's so light and summery and loose but not too huge

Toothy Charm

I made this one last night and I've got more bottles on their way to me, I'm very excited! I went to the bead store and made a chain but it cost me $7 which is a bit much seeing as I'm only asking for $20 for the necklace but I just wanted to get this one done and I can find cheaper ones in the meantime.

These shoes will be my best friends over the next couple of weeks because on Saturday night an unfriendly piece of metal sticking out of a car scraped a bunch of skin off my ankle...not pleasant.

Things That Make Me Happy This Week

1. Tapestry purse that I found for $3 (unfortunately the tapestry is only on one side, but it has two compartments so that makes up for it

2. Today we got our tickets for The Black Keys who are playing here in January

3. Realizing how many Scrumpy bottles we had in our house before we put the recycling out yesterday (A LOT)

 

70s Heaven

I also found this amazing 60s/70s dress. I think it's handmade but very well so, I adore it but unfortunately I'm far to short to suit maxi dresses (this thing is floor length) and I can't bring myself to alter it to be shorter so out it goes on TradeMe...sigh

 

Findssssss

I went op-shopping with my boy today and found some cute things, it's really getting dry out there though as more and more people catch onto the fact that you don't have to pay lots and buy designers labels to look good...eep

  

I also got a really cool Mod style dress with black and white flowers on it and a collar but I'm yet to hem it to a better length on me so I'll post photos when I get round to that

Urban Hippie

This is what I wore today. It was perfect for the muggy weather we are having and great for work because the dress is longer at the back so when I bend over I don't have to worry.

I made this tonight with the left over guinea feathers from the headband I made (I'll post photos of that when the glue is dry)

I think it's quite sweet, I love the soft fluffy downy feathers, they make me want to rub them on my face :D

Do Not Trust The Pack

Today I have been lounging around feeling depressed about the cloudy sky and playing Blink 182 songs on my new guitar (I decided they are good songs to learn because they are fast but reasonably easy to play, like the Ramones)

 Yesterday I lost my mind and decided to dye my hair a light brown because I'm bored with the black...the pack showed black hair becoming a really nice golden brown, but what actually happened was kind of a disaster, the black bits DID NOT CHANGE COLOUR AT ALL, and my natural brown roots have gone an odd red brown colour. So I'm about to go out and buy some bleach (god forbid) and more dye to fix it . I really did not want to have to subject my bleach-virgin hair to that, but something has to be done. Wish me luck!
